Today I finished reading Oprah: A Biography, by Kitty Kelley. It took me about five weeks to read it, and so I guess I’d have to say I didn’t find it a page turner, but it was interesting enough that I did get through it.

I recently finished reading Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir, by Christopher Buckley, a book about his interaction with his parents, William F. Buckley Jr. and Patricia Taylor Buckley, during their last illnesses and death. It was a pleasant quick read. Good for reading on the commuter train or for outdoor reading in the warm weather.

“Superstar tenor Juan Diego Florez doesn’t seem like a natural for ‘Orphee,’ but in the French three-act version heard on this extraordinary recording, he leaves no room for doubt: This is the most persuasive and affecting performance I’ve heard of ‘Orphee,’ and say what you want, it matters that a strong tenor voice is heard in the title role, rather than counter-tenor or soprano.”–Jay Furst, Post-Bulletin
